Sophos Anti-Virus awarded Trojan Checkmark certification

Johannesburg, 19 May 2005

Independent research and test centre, West Coast Labs, has awarded Sophos Anti-Virus its prestigious Trojan certification, complementing Sophos`s other Checkmark certifications for virus detection (Level 1) and disinfection (Level 2).

For Sophos Anti-Virus to be certified with the Trojan Checkmark, the product had to detect all Trojans in the Trojan test suite, which is regularly updated by West Coast Labs.

"Trojans can be pretty nasty, and no legitimate company wants them to sneak onto their network," says Brett Myroff, CEO of local Sophos distributor, NetXactics. "By achieving the Trojan Checkmark, particularly when complemented with Sophos`s other Checkmark certifications, Sophos has demonstrated its ability to make first-class, expert security products."

The Checkmark system has been developed by West Coast Labs, an independent research and test centre. It provides a reliable means of authenticating products and certifying those of the highest quality.
