NetCom Solutions SA, specialised security services and solutions provider in SA, has announced the availability of Sophos`sMailMonitor for SMTP. It detects, reports and disinfects viruses in e-mail sent via the Internet`s standard protocol for e-mail communication.
NetCom Solutions SA sales manager Logan Hill says MailMonitor for SMTP scans all e-mail before it reaches the SMTP server. "If the e-mail is virus-free, it is passed to the server. If virus infection is detected, the e-mail can be quarantined, deleted or disinfected. MailMonitor can also alert administrators, recipients and senders to infected e-mail if required."
According to ICSA Labs, a division of TruSecure Corporation, over 80% of all computer viruses enter an enterprise via e-mail systems.
