IT security and control firm Sophos today announced that it received a "positive" rating in Gartner's "MarketScope for Network Access Control, 2008". Sophos was one of 17 vendors evaluated in the report.
Gartner defines the NAC market as "those vendors that sell appliance-based or endpoint software-based NAC solutions".
In order to be included in the report, the firm stipulated that "vendors' solutions must be composed of the policy, baseline and access control elements of NAC". Gartner noted that the NAC market "will grow approximately 100% in 2008".

The MarketScope assessed vendors on the following criteria: market understanding, marketing strategy, sales strategy, offering (product) strategy, overall viability (business unit, financial, strategy, organization) and sales execution/pricing.
