Sourcecom, the e.Nablement ICT services company, today announced that it was awarded the highly-regarded Cisco Systems' certification for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) specialisation, making it one of only a select few SA companies to earn the credential.
The specialisation, awarded on 30 July 2001, is part of Sourcecom's focused effort to increase the level of Cisco sales and support capabilities within its organisation, requiring Sourcecom to meet rigorous Cisco-certified personnel levels.
Wireless area networks are being driven by the need for mobile connectivity both in and out of the enterprise, making it possible for organisations to essentially do away with cables and wires, while gaining flexibility, movement and inter-device connectivity.
Sourcecom can immediately begin marketing its capabilities in the wireless implementation arena, including assisting other organisations that require this expertise but are not certified to deploy large-scale campus projects. According to IDC research, revenues from this rapidly emerging market will hit nearly $3.2 billion by 2005, up from approximately $1.1 billion in 2000.

Sourcecom will continue to develop and enhance its capabilities to maximise the design, installation, support and supply of Cisco Wireless LAN products throughout SA. These activities are further bolstered by Cisco's recently announced WLAN initiative that focuses heavily on the planning, design, and implementation of wireless products.
Sourcecom's early adoption of Cisco wireless certification into the e.Nablement and network portfolio reflects a clear understanding of the mutual requirements.

Additionally, Sourcecom is strengthening its Cisco partnership credentials through ongoing skills training, such as the 'Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert' (CCIE) program. A team of six system engineers will participate in a CCIE Lab scheduled for late October 2001, where they will take the necessary steps to receive advanced certification in the internetworking industry.
The CCIE program is an expert level certification to help organisations identify highly skilled technical engineers in the internetworking industry, and sets the professional benchmark for internetworking expertise. CCIE certification has become synonymous with professional expertise in internetworking, and those who attain the certification credentials are recognized as members of one of the most elite corps of internetworking professionals in the world.
