South Africa to be included in international ECM survey

Johannesburg, 07 Apr 2006
AIIM the international authority on enterprise content management (ECM) is, for the first time, including South Africa in its annual "state of the ECM industry" survey. The invitation to include the South African market has come from John F Mancini, President of AIIM, and is being facilitated locally by NokusaEI, the leading South African ECM consultancy.

For over 60 years, AIIM has been the leading non-profit organisation focused on helping users to understand the challenges associated with managing documents, content, records and business processes. ECM comprises the tools and technologies used to capture, manage, store, preserve and deliver content and documents related to organisational processes. ECM provides solutions to help users with four key business drivers: continuity, collaboration, regulatory compliance and reduced costs.

The addition of the South African ECM market in this worldwide survey is indicative of the uptake of ECM within organisations in South Africa. Each year AIIM surveys end-users in eight to 10 countries to determine what factors influence their interest in document and records technologies, what obstacles they see in implementing these technologies, and how they are using or considering using these technologies. Those who participate get a summary of the survey findings for use in their own internal benchmarking programs.

The survey only takes a few minutes to complete. Individual responses are kept confidential and only the aggregate data is distributed. The results will be released at the AIIM Show and Conference in Philadelphia on 17 May. ITWeb users who are actively involved in ECM within their organisations, as decision-makers, users or project implementers, are invited to participate in the survey.
