Software Training Technology (STT), a global leader in software simulation training and documentation tools for enterprise systems, has successfully been used to develop and deliver effective simulation-based training for the SAP implementation at the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
Starting in early January, STT Trainer and STT Manager (Learning Management System) have been deployed for the training of more than 700 SARS employees in multiple roles, over six regions, in order to comply with key legislative and accounting practice requirements and implement internal transformation and improvement processes in the SARS finance division. Called the Kopano Programme, the initiative aims to fulfil SARS`s mission to optimise revenue yield, facilitate trade and enlist new tax contributors.
Phase two of the project has already begun and has seen a further 200 employees trained using STT.
In December 2003, STT was selected by SARS for the two major SAP and Siebel implementations currently under way at SARS.
"We chose STT because it offered value for money, ease of use, ease of development and it was quick to produce lessons," explains Jakes Oosthuizen, Kopano Training Manager. He says the choice has stood SARS in good stead.
"STT has a quick turnaround time when working to tight deadlines. On the Kopano project we had only four weeks to complete development of the training material. Training was then simultaneously rolled out in six regions.
STT enabled us, and continues to enable us, to develop training quickly by providing one central development area, flexible templates and inherent accuracy. On the user side STT has provided a good introduction to e-learning for staff and allows for training support without being dependent on the live SAP system."
