First National Bank (FNB) has been astounded by the positive response from the South African public in support of helping the victims of the tsunami disaster. A few days after the waves hit most of Southern Asia, FNB set up a Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund to help with the support efforts. FNB is proud to announce that the fund has already gathered R232 775 as at 3 January 2005.
Michael Jordaan, CEO of FNB, says: "I am immensely proud of the enormous contributions that have been made to the fund so far. We as South Africans will be helping those who are most vulnerable as a result of this tragedy. FNB urges everyone to look beyond their own interests and make generous contributions that will help save lives in the coming weeks and months."
Customers and staff may also make donations using their eBucks on the bank`s online banking website (www.ebucks.com) or by calling the call centre on 086 123 3000. "An eBucks customer said she was delighted that she was able to use her eBucks to make a donation of eB11 653 (R1 165.30). Not familiar with how to use the Internet, the customer was glad that the donations could also be made via the call centre," said Lezanne Human, CEO of eBucks.com. "We are urging all customers who have not yet spent their eBucks to take this opportunity to make a valuable contribution towards helping the victims of the disaster."
