Space TV chooses Pastel Evolution for its operations

Johannesburg, 06 Dec 2005

Space Television, South Africa`s premier provider of satellite, television and CCTV solutions, has selected Pastel Evolution to deliver instant and accurate data across its wide area network. With offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth, Space Television needs to provide an uninterrupted service to its customers.

Branches have to connect to Space Television`s main systems in Johannesburg via high-speed and wireless links. "From a productivity perspective, and to offer a better service to our customers, we need to ensure that transactions generated at our various depots around the country could be processed centrally and on-the-fly," says Sean Voigt, director of Space Television.

Space Television will also implement the Pastel Business Intelligence Centre (BIC) to give sales managers access to vital information on product and services sales. In addition the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) add-on component will facilitate rental service tracking, placing country-wide distribution and installation information at their fingertips.

Space Television supplies hardware and services to Nigeria, Namibia and Tanzania, among other African countries. Many of these transactions are Dollar based. "We encounter a number of problems from an accounting perspective by invoicing in Rands, which means backdating and converting data from Excel. Evolution`s Multi-Currency module will greatly assist the business` export operations and keep better track of our foreign dealings and customer balances," says Voigt.

With 2000 customers locally and in outlying areas, Pastel Evolution is also set to improve Space Television`s warehousing capability. "Serialised tracking is a great tool, as it ensures stock items and warranties can be effectively tracked over the large geographical area we service. Improved inventory management is also key to offering dealers and customers the best prices and to ensure stock availability," says Voigt.
