Leading global IT vendor, Acer has been appointed as the partner of choice to supply South Africa`s top computer rental company, Spartan Computer Rentals, with computer hardware.
In an ongoing partnership that will see Acer and Spartan working closely together in an effort to promote the rental model for computer hardware, Acer will be supplying Spartan with desktop equipment in a deal-on-deal basis.
"Spartan, with a client base of more than 1 000 ranging from government and parastatals to blue chip companies and SMEs, is ideally positioned as Acer`s partner to reinforce the strong Acer brand within the South African marketplace," says Brian Bogaard, GM of Acer in South Africa.
According to Anton Leal, MD of Spartan Computer Rentals: "The value added rental services arena is growing rapidly globally and in South Africa, as increasing numbers of companies large and small no longer want the hassle of IT ownership which includes organising insurance, maintenance and upgrades.
"Spartan and Acer have shared a good relationship in the past. This partnership further builds on that relationship which we anticipate to stimulate growth with benefits to both parties, while paving the way for further joint ventures. The Acer product range is sufficiently broad to meet the needs of all our customers. In addition, Acer products have a well deserved reputation for reliability which the company reinforces with excellent after-sales service."
The rental industry in South Africa has been growing significantly over the past few years as IT becomes more ubiquitous. Computers are becoming outdated more quickly as newer technologies are rapidly adopted leaving users saddled with old technology, and having to experience the hassles involved with selling a used piece of equipment to make room for the latest technology.
"Renting takes the hassle out of the process of keeping up-to-date with technology, every year rented equipment is replaced, automatically keeping users at the cutting edge of technology," Leal concludes.
