Walker has achieved an industry first - responding to a key feature of its "Future of the Finance Function" research with the announcement of a natural language processing module within Aptos, its integrated suite of financial applications for NT and UNIX. Newly introduced to the South African marketplace by Bateleur Walker Financial Systems, APTOS is being positioned as a product leader in preempting the future strategy requirements of the finance function in business. Andre van Vuuren, Manager of Aptos Solutions at Bateleur Walker comments, " The main thrust in South African business is to become more globally competitive. It is for this reason that future international development in all APTOS product functionality will be deployed automatically to the South African marketplace - to make sure that we can partner our clients in their quest for business leadership." Walker`s research found that, to meet business goals, finance departments will have to invest in many new technologies and integrate them into their accounting and financial systems. Voice-enabled systems are a key new technology - as Microsoft`s Bill Gates recently said: "Speech recognition is the key to future operating systems." Aptos` UK Product Manager David Pattinson explains: "This technology is now readily applicable to modern financial systems and its integration into Aptos affords Walker the opportunity of responding to the future needs of finance directors - namely that of moving their departments away from being transaction processors, towards becoming strategic advisors that can add real business value to the organisation.
