Speer Management Services was approached to create a more stable IT infrastructure at Gosair. The primary objectives were for the employees at Gosair to have access to particular areas of the system, with management having maximum control. Internet connectivity was to be made instantaneous and reliable, with security tightened in all areas of the infrastructure.
Speer implemented its Vitality and ER products to cater for these requirements. "What sets Speer apart is that their Vitality product is proactive. This means that certain functions are to be done on a daily, weekly and monthly basis on all aspects of the infrastructure. The outcome was an infrastructure as close to 100% stable as physically possible," says Jaco Strydom, Managing Director of Speer Management Services.
The network was completely restructured with information being saved onto the new server rather than the individual workstations. This gave Gosair a more centralised approach to its infrastructure, with a backup system running daily.
"All users adapted to the system well, and, since March 2003 re-active calls have been reduced drastically," says Pieter Oosthuizen, Business Manager at Speer Management Services.
