Spescom, the US operation of technology innovator Spescom, has released eB CMII. eB CMII is a new application built on the eB v14 platform that complies with the CMII process model defined by the Institute of Configuration Management (ICM).
The CMII process model is an industry best practices framework for managing products, facilities and processes by controlling the information regarding them, including changes, and ensuring they are what they are supposed to be in every case. The model is promoted by means of educational training, certification programmes and industry events by the ICM.
"We believe that eB is one of the most powerful tools on the market to enable the effective implementation of the CMII model by an enterprise," says ICM president, Vince Guess.
"We were very impressed with the eB CMII application, particularly with how the closed-loop diagram is used to let the user know where they are in the change process."
According to Spescom Software CEO, Carl Mostert, Spescom is continuously looking to provide customers with information management solutions that are innovative, cost effective and address real business needs "eB CMII is one of only a handful of products that are CMII certified. The eB CMII application sets new standards for ease-of-use and adherence to the CMII model as well as providing additional capabilities beyond what is specified by CMII.
"The eB CMII application is a fully Web-based tool that can easily be deployed throughout an organisation to manage information about its products, facilities and processes. It enables any user to initiate requests for change to products, facilities or processes. It incorporates an automated change management procedure that ensures that the impact of changes on cost, schedule, safety, quality, profit or environment are fully assessed. It also ensures that approved changes are effectively communicated and implemented.
Mostert notes that the application includes a graphical representation of the CMII process that facilitates ease of use by showing users exactly where any change is in the process at any point in time.
"Users have rapid access to all product data and related documents including proposed changes in a clear and concise baseline report.
"eB CMII combines powerful configuration and change management capabilities with document, records and work management capabilities to ensure the delivery of quality products and services by an enterprise. This modern service oriented architecture provides a highly flexible and scalable environment ensuring enterprise deployment and high availability as well as ease of data exchange and integration with other business systems," concludes Mostert.
