Spescom DataFusion (Pty) Limited has partnered with network services company LANmetrix (Pty) Limited to provide businesses with both the infrastructure and optimum management of "new world" communication networks.
A 100% owned subsidiary of Spescom Limited, Spescom DataFusion provides intelligent multi-service network capabilities and Internet business solutions to the South African and African markets, based on Cisco's Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data technology.
Tim Pryce, Manager: Intelligent Networks at Spescom DataFusion, says businesses increasingly deploy and rely on packet-based data infrastructure that carries voice, video and data traffic simultaneously.
"While the physical infrastructure connecting equipment has become simpler in concept, providing improved communication and efficiencies, these intelligent networks are much more complex to configure and efficiently maintain on an ongoing basis."
Pryce says the expertise available in the average company is not sufficient to optimise such networks.
"Therefore, to be able to offer a complete solution to clients that look towards outsourcing its network management and monitoring, Spescom investigated a strategic partnership with a network management service provider."
Pryce says LANmetrix, with its proactive and predictive approach towards network troubleshooting via analysis, capacity planning and management, proved to be the perfect complement to Spescom's core activities.
"LANmetrix's diagnostic capabilities enable it to optimise an enterprise's total network and application performance, providing a much wider service than companies supplying customers with mere 'lines-up, lines-down' information."
Notifying an enterprise of a potential problem before it occurs provides peace of mind that the network and therefore the business is available 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week, he adds.
Pryce says the Spescom/LANmetrix partnership ensures exceptional value-add for its clients, as its variety and depth of skills allows the successful integration of the different components of a multi-service network.
Anthony Brooks-Williams, sales manager: LANmetrix, says Spescom's reputation in the marketplace as a leading deliverer of high-quality networking solutions gives LANmetrix good exposure, increasing its coverage and providing it with more business opportunities.
Introducing Spescom to LANmetrix clients also provides the company with the opportunity to investigate and employ world-class networking solutions, which in turn makes LANmetrix's task of managing such infrastructure easier, he adds.
"As a team Spescom and LANmetrix offer very competitive, but high-quality network infrastructure and management services, as both companies are able to maintain the focus on their core areas of expertise," he concludes.
