Spescom has been appointed as the first South African partner for Motorola Tetra solutions, the leading radio transmission voice and data communications systems used by safety and security service providers the world over.
Motorola's Tetra system is successfully in use for monitoring and managing radio communications for safety services in many countries and is now available in the South African market, backed up by Spescom DataVoice's expertise in voice recording and integration with contact centre IT networks.
"Achieving appointment as a Motorola Dimetra Application Partner is not a simple process," says Andrew Condon, Commercial manager of Spescom DataVoice. "The Tetra system is based on highly sophisticated radio communications which link to IP-based networks and only companies with advanced abilities in these areas are considered for this accreditation.
"Spescom's experience in multimedia contact centre solutions and the world-class technology our company supplies were important factors, as well as the flexibility of our voice recording solutions which integrate easily with industry-standard IT systems.
"The concept is to turn a communications system into a communications solution by combining Motorola technology with high-end applications provided by accredited partners. An effective solution is a combination of systems and applications, which is a familiar area for Spescom."
This offers local customers, whether private- or public-sector organisations, a new opportunity to implement best-of-breed Motorola technology, backed up by equally advanced equipment and know-how from Spescom - a company with a successful history in local and international solutions.
"This is a great opportunity for both Spescom and its customers," says Condon. "We now have the ability to collaborate with a global leader in the radio communications space that offers technology on the same level of sophistication as our own. There is a meaningful synergy between the Tetra solutions of Motorola and the advanced voice recording, IP-enabled integration abilities of Spescom products.
"For the customers, the advantage is in deploying reliable, secure communications management. The main application of these systems is in safety-critical areas such as emergency services, which require fail-safe equipment. The opportunity now created by Spescom becoming a Dimetra Application Partner is to integrate the front-end communications monitoring with the IT networks and back-end databases on which emergency services depend.
"This enables effective, fast responses to any situation which are securely archived by DataVoice recording systems to support monitoring, management and ongoing improvement of the service delivery.
"As the first South African company to receive this accreditation, we look forward to many future implementations with Motorola and its partners - both locally and internationally."
