Spescom Software Inc, the US operation of JSE-listed Spescom Ltd, has announced that Pan-American Energy (Argentina) will deploy eB technology throughout its organisation.
This is a joint venture with Spescom Software's Argentinean business partner Daassnet.
Pan-American Energy (Argentina) is a joint venture between BP/Amoco and Bridas, and Chaco (Bolivia), a subsidiary of Pan-American Energy.
Spescom Software's proprietary integrated document, configuration and records (iDCR) management solution, eB, will be used by Pan-American Energy organisations to streamline business processes as well as to manage all documents and engineering drawings.
Pan-American Energy will utilise eB in conjunction with its internal ERP (enterprise resource planning) application, for project management and administration, including providing document services to third-party contractors for storing drawings and technical specifications. eB Workflow will be used to provide document routing site-wide on all facilities. New phases will see eB being deployed into Business Development and Gas Operations, and into Legal and Finance. eB Mail will also be installed later in the year to manage incoming e-mail.
Chaco will also use eB with its Pan-American Energy shared internal ERP application as well as for managing technical documents for geo-scientists. eB Workflow will provide process improvements for administration processes and for managing the control and distribution of physical documents such as well logs.
Daniel Gorodetzky, Managing Partner of Daassnet, explained that eB had shown both companies compelling benefits and value, which he expected would set a benchmark for other organisations in Latin America.
"eB was a natural choice for us once we considered the requirements of the organisation and the success already shown from its use at Pan-American Energy," said Manuel Paz, IT Supervisor at Chaco, who selected eB after a detailed evaluation of Spescom's competitors. "Our analysis showed a lower cost of deployment and a quicker return on investment than the other competitors we evaluated. Daassnet's local presence and technical competency played a major part in our final choice."
"eB is one of our core business tools to help us manage our critical business information," said Marcelo Peremolnik, IT Manager at Pan-American Energy, who decided to extend the use of eB to all departments within Pan-American Energy after seeing the benefits it provided the engineering department. "We believe it can also help us further improve our productivity and customer service by leveraging additional eB modules such as workflow and e-mail management."
According to Carl Mostert, Spescom Software CEO, these successful projects further demonstrate the value the company brings to large companies in the oil and gas market, both in the US and through overseas partners. "Our functionally-rich and flexible eB software platform is well suited to address the different needs of these organisations, enabling them to achieve their regulatory and business objectives," concluded Mostert.
