Spescom hires CFO

Johannesburg, 06 Aug 2009

JSE-listed integrated business communications solutions provider Spescom has appointed Amanda Alb"ack as CFO from the start of this month.

In May, the company said Dashni Sinivasan was leaving the company to join a operator, but did not disclose the name of the company she was joining.

Sinivasan joined Spescom in 2007, after having worked as GM for BMW's financial services division. She was promoted to CFO in 2008. Early this year, she was again promoted to board level as the company's financial director.

Alb"ack was previously Vodacom's executive head of financial control. Spescom says in an announcement that she “brings considerable experience, business acumen and leadership skills to the position”.

The right skills

CEO Jen'e Palmer says: “Alb"ack was identified from among a highly skilled field of professionals as having the right expertise, experience and values to meet the requirements of the CFO role at Spescom.

“She is familiar with the challenges unique to the ICT industry, is well versed in the responsibilities of a financial executive and has deep insight into International Financial Reporting Standards.”

Alb"ack qualified as a chartered accountant (SA) in 2001, after completing her articles at KPMG. She was employed at SAA before taking up a position at Vodacom. She is also a member of the African Women Charted Accountants' Forum, which aids the progress of black women in the profession.

“Spescom offers me the exciting prospect of exercising and expanding my professional capabilities in a dynamic and stimulating business environment,” she says.

“I look forward to participating in the growth and development of the company in my strategic role as CFO, and hope the experience I deliver will enable me to add value to the function and organisation.”
