Spescom`s document management software suite is to be distributed in SA by empowerment company Tactical Software Systems (TSS), in terms of a deal between the companies.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
Leseding Electronics Investments, responsible for black empowerment in the Spescom Group, announced in conjunction with Spescom Software (UK) that the eB product range, previously distributed by Spescom SA, will be distributed by TSS.
TSS will also provide all services and expertise to support the suite, which remains the wholly owned intellectual property of the Spescom Group.
"The eB product suite will now be sourced directly from our UK subsidiary, Spescom Software, and distributed locally by TSS," says Vernon Leas, CEO of Spescom`s South African operations.
"This holds significant benefits for both the Spescom Group and eB customers as well as providing a meaningful opening for the development of skills in the black economic empowerment area."
He says Spescom and TSS have a longstanding relationship formed as part of Spescom`s empowerment initiatives.
TSS CEO Danny Mackay says his company started in 1997 with four staff, originally focusing on Y2K remediation projects. The relationship with Spescom began when Spescom supported it in winning its first contract.
"Since those early days, TSS has grown to about 100 staff, our revenue has tripled and in the process TSS has formed strong international partnerships alongside our activities in local markets.
"We offer a number of solutions including enterprise resource planning, desktop and network infrastructure support (availability management), healthcare and e-commerce solutions."
He says the eB product suite is a welcome complement to these services and products, and enhances his company`s knowledge management service offering.
