Fluke's position in the waveform generator marketplace has been strengthened by the introduction of the new Wavetek-Datron 195 and 300 Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG) from Fluke by Spescom MeasureGraph.
Since Fluke's recent acquisition of the Precision Measurement Division of Wavetek Wandel Goltermann (Wavetek-Datron), earlier this year, major steps have been taken to provide new calibration tools and a high level of support for electronic systems designers. The new Wavetek-Datron AWGs are the result of the Fluke and Wavetek-Datron's combined development teams' decision to integrate the best products into a family of superior calibration and precision measurement tools.
The Wavetek-Datron 195 is geared towards lower speed applications, with clock rates extending to 40Msamples/sec on each of the two or four channels. Each channel has its own 12-bit analog to digital converter providing high-resolution waveforms for applications demanding precise signal simulation. Individual channels can be added together or modulated with other channels or external sources.
All four channels in the 195 model can be phase-locked together and connected to additional units, should more than four channels be needed. The 300 family is a range of single and dual channel medium-speed AWGs that are designed to address complex problems in electronic systems design. They also have specific applications in communications design. With clock rates of up to 300 Msample/sec with a 10-bit digital to analog conversion, the 300-series models enable accurate definition and generation of a variety of signal classes. Record lengths of up to 16 M-bits provide sufficient memory to define compound waveform patterns and sequences required to test and characterise very complex devices and systems. With two output channels, the 302 model will appeal to engineers who are designing products with I and Q modulation or similar communications plans. "Our products," said Dave Coombes, Wavetek-Datron 195 and 300 product manager, "are recognised globally, not only for their depth of innovative waveform generation solutions, but now we are able to offer the broadest and most functional range of AWGs in the industry."
Spescom MeasureGraph, a subsidiary of JSE-listed Spescom Limited and a leading supplier of test and measurement equipment, is the sole local distributor of Fluke products.
