Spescom partners with MRO Software to address US, Europe energy and utility markets

Johannesburg, 28 Sep 2004

Spescom Software Inc, the US operation of the multinational group, Spescom, has announced an alliance with MRO Software.

In terms of the agreement, Spescom Software and MRO Software will undertake joint marketing activities and be in a position to propose a joint solution that combines both companies' products and services into a complete package for customers.

Spescom Software is a leading provider of enterprise content and configuration management solutions.

US-based MRO Software is the world's leading provider of strategic asset management solutions.

MRO Software's flagship asset management solution, MAXIMO, allows customers to manage the complete lifecycle of their strategic assets.

"The combined eB/MAXIMO solution extends the asset management capabilities of MAXIMO by enabling the management of asset configuration and all associated documents and drawings," says Johan Arts, vice-president of industry marketing, MRO Software.

"It also provides a 'best-in-class' change and configuration management process that enables the impact of any proposed change to be assessed as well as ensuring that all approved document amendments are fully implemented. This ensures conformance between the design basis of a plant, the physical configuration of the plant and all documents and drawings that relate to the plant."

The initial focus of the agreement is on customers in the energy and utility markets with a major emphasis on the nuclear sector.

According to Spescom Software CEO, Carl Mostert, the two companies share the same markets and have numerous customers in common.

"Historically, plant owners and operators have suffered from a lack of accurate information and we plan to deliver an approach that provides a strong return on investment.

"By working with MRO, we can offer customers an integrated solution that addresses asset and information management requirements. A key objective of the agreement is to reduce operational costs while ensuring regulatory compliance," concludes Mostert.
