Spescom Software Inc, the US subsidiary of JSE-listed ICT group, Spescom Ltd, today announced that its UK-based subsidiary, Spescom Software, Ltd has successfully integrated its eB software with the Integrated Control and Asset Management Solution being provided by Transmitton to Railtrack's Eastern Region.
As a result of the integration, the two-year project to replace the Eastern Region's existing traction power control system valued at lb8.5 million, will be delivered on budget and on time.
The new Integrated Control and Asset Management solution supplied by Transmitton provides sophisticated network management capabilities, including document management and "Permit to Work" facilities, as well as all the conventional features of an electrical control system. Transmitton's decision to select Spescom Software's eB to provide the document management facilities for the system came after careful evaluation of a number of potential suppliers.

This approach will enable Railtrack's Eastern Region to provide rapid, straightforward access to information and documentation, as well as to move towards more streamlined work management."

Transmitton's system, installed at Railtrack's Integrated Electrical Control Centre at York, comprises dual Cromos2000 computers running under Microsoft Windows NT, with four triple-headed (three screen) operator workstations. A further unique feature of the system will be the network management capabilities, including isolation control and interconnectivity, in line with Railtrack operational standards and procedures. Spescom Software's document and configuration management capabilities were embedded within Cromos2000 using Spescom Software's easy to use APIs.
