Spescom supplies eB software technology to US Foodservice

Johannesburg, 25 Apr 2005

Spescom Software Inc, the US operation of multinational Spescom group, has announced that US Foodservice has selected Spescom's eB software suite to manage its nationwide accounts receivable functions.

US Foodservice is one of the largest broadline distributors of foods in the US.

According to Spescom Software CEO, Carl Mostert, the contract is a result of the close relationship Spescom has established with US Foodservice and makes use of the powerful content management capabilities of the eB platform.

"Spescom's eB solution will streamline the processing of the accounts receivables from the many thousands of customers that US Foodservice handles. The eB system is a compelling example of the cross-platform capabilities our proprietary architecture enables. The solution will employ the eB Report Capture option to enable the customer to effectively capture all customer invoices and related data from the company's midrange-size AS400 computer systems," says Mostert.

"The eB Image Capture module will enable scanning of paper invoices and cheques. Once captured, the eB solution provides rapid access to this information in order to enable the timely resolution of customer queries and collection of accounts receivable.

"The benefits are improved revenue collection and cash flow resulting in a rapid return on investment to US Foodservice for the project."

Mostert notes that the initial installation is being undertaken at the Joseph Webb division of US Foodservice.

"Based on the success of this project, the potential exists to expand the system to other divisions of US Foodservices. "This contract with US Foodservices is another important success with a major US corporation.

"Contracts with large enterprises represent a key component of Spescom's business and growth plan. Such contracts can roll-out in stages, with additional substantial value at each step. Spescom's strategy and products are designed to capitalise on these contract expansion opportunities, to enable us to grow revenues with existing customers," concludes Mostert.
