Spescom Telecommunications (Pty) Limited has announced the formation of the DC (Direct Current) Power Solution Group, focusing on the supply and maintenance of telecommunications power solutions.
Alan Holloway, chief operating officer of Spescom's Communications Solutions Group, comments: "The Telecommunications Power Solution Group will address an important derivative of the access network market in that every piece of telecommunications infrastructure requires rectified power. Spescom Telecommunications has been involved in this market sector for the past five years."
Etienne van der Westhuizen and Wouter Vink, who share considerable experience in the power solutions market, have been appointed to lead the group, as business development manager and product manager, respectively.
The core components of the product range incorporate products utilising technology from Rectifier Technologies Pacific (Pty) Limited (RTP), an Australian-based company with an established reputation in the South African telecommunications market.
Ranging from 12.5A to 100A, RTP's compact rectifier modules allow the construction of high power density rack power systems from 10A to 10,000A capacity, including sophisticated battery cell monitoring and remote supervision.
"Our objective is to provide the local telecommunications power electronic markets with well known products of proven technology, incorporating the best manufacturing capabilities and improved cost-effectiveness," concludes Holloway.
