Spescom's global march continues

Expanding the international distributor base brings new customers
Johannesburg, 14 May 2001

Spescom Limited, the JSE-listed ICT (information and communications technology) group, has continued its global expansion programme with the appointment of new distributors and thereby widening the channels to market in the USA and Europe.

The UK subsidiary, Spescom KMS, has appointed Athens-based Key Systems, a top document management solutions supplier in Greece, and MCX, a leading solutions provider in Poland.

US subsidiary Altris Software has signed Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) Consulting in the USA.

According to Spescom's chief of operations, Carl Mostert, systems integrators and line of business solution providers are attracted to the eB document management software suite, because of its functionality, ease of customisation and integration qualities.

"This is demonstrated by the speed with which our new partners have been able to localise eB and integrate its capabilities into their own application specific software solutions," says Mostert.

KMS Consulting, based in Los Angeles, California, is a prominent, full service consulting firm that specialises in managing multi-platform and multi-vendor projects in the knowledge management arena. The company is renowned for its expertise in integrating document management, workflow, COLD (ERM) and forms within a number of different industries across the USA, making it an ideal partner for Altris.

Athens-based Key Systems SA, the leading document management solution provider in Greece, has selected the eB document management software suite, after an extensive review of the marketplace for document management products.

Takis Patrikarakos, CEO of Key Systems, says: "We were impressed with eB's outstanding architecture that makes it by far the most scaleable and easily deployable system that we have seen during our very thorough evaluation of the marketplace. Its features, functionality and streamlined integration capabilities place eB in a market leading position.

"Our confidence in eB has already been amply justified with our first order from leading marine operator, SuperFast Ferries, which plans to install a 256-seat system over the next four months," Patrikarakos concludes.

MCX, a leading Polish solution provider with a rapidly expanding systems integration business, has also selected the eB suite to form the backbone of its document management solutions. New orders that incorporate the eB facilities include Poland's PBK and Warsaw's local government organisation, Warsaw Community Hall.

Piotr Wisniewski, Managing Director of MCX, says: "As a provider of network solutions that may be deployed across thousands of desktops, it is important that any software MCX uses is highly scalable and very robust. Our search for a document management software capability to integrate into our solutions led us to Altris, whose eB suite has an enterprise class architecture, built around industry standards, with the features and capabilities to match. Working in conjunction with Spescom KMS we have now developed a fully operational Polish Web version of eB - the first product of its kind in the Polish marketplace."
