Spielberg directs EA games
Two video games developed with director Steven Spielberg are to be exhibited at the E3 conference in Los Angeles, reports BBC News.
The filmmaker collaborated with Electronic Arts, the world's largest games publisher, on three titles. The first, code-named LMNO, is a contemporary action adventure, said Neil Young, GM of EA's Los Angeles studio.
The second, with the code name PQRS, is a puzzle game designed for Nintendo's Wii console. In an interview with Newsweek magazine, Spielberg said the puzzle game "seemed like a great thing for the entire family to play together over Christmas; although you don't need the excuse of a holiday to enjoy it".
Wii gets active
Nintendo has unveiled a pressure-sensitive, hi-tech board that will add more physical activity to a notoriously sedentary pastime, reports Seattle PI.
It will sit on the floor and work with Nintendo's Wii console to lead people through workouts and provide a new way to control games. By detecting distribution of weight, the board can tell whether a user's yoga routine is properly following the on-screen instructions. And in a virtual soccer game, the goalie can shift back and forth to block incoming shots.
A body mass index tracker that works by weighing a person through the board is also a feature. The wireless board will come with a collection of more than 40 "Wii Fit" activities, in the areas of aerobics, muscle conditioning, yoga and balance games.
Silent Hill horror continues
Konami producer William Ortell announced that the company is developing Silent Hill 5 for next-generation platforms, reports Game Spot.
The announcement marks the continuation of the long-running horror survival series, which made its debut on the original PlayStation in 1999. Over the next several years, the franchise made its way onto the PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, and the PlayStation Portable.
Konami is bringing back the sinister atmosphere and grotesque inhabitants of Silent Hill for the fifth game, but other aspects of the game are being changed.
