Leading software house and Dimension Data subsidiary SPL has announced Prism Quality Manager for SAP, a new business solution that helps companies accelerate data migration and optimise their investments in SAP implementations. Prism is a leading supplier of software used to build, maintain and navigate data warehouses. SPL is the authorised distributor for Prism in South Africa. Bernhard Potgieter, Manager of SPL's Data Warehousing Division, says Prism Quality Manager for SAP is a ready-to-use, stand-alone environment for evaluating, cleansing and preparing the data required to implement an SAP R/3 enterprise information management system. "It simplifies the process of moving a company's legacy data from a complex source environment to a highly intricate SAP operational target environment," Potgieter explains. "Addressing data quality early in the SAP application migration life cycle can result in significant cost and time savings, and will help to ensure a successful SAP implementation." One of the benefits offered by the product is its ability to ensure that the necessary data is accurately collected, cleansed, conditioned and prepared for loading. To standardise data preparation across the enterprise, Prism Quality Manager uses SAP meta data, IDOC data model templates, automated data quality measurements, data quality measurement reports, cleansing utilities and automated processes. "The new product leverages Prism's proven data quality methodology and extensive experience in helping customers manage data integrity in SAP projects," Potgieter says. "Users have reported that Prism products and methodology significantly improve the results and quality of their SAP data migrations. "In essence, Prism Quality Manager for SAP helps customers ensure a better return on their SAP investments. We believe it is the only product of its kind that identifies and corrects data quality throughout the life cycle of SAP implementations.
