Spyware ring infiltrates banks

A spyware ring has infiltrated the IT systems of as many as 50 international and logged social numbers, credit card and account numbers, passwords,eBay and PayPalaccount information and chat transcripts, according to the security firm Synbelt Software.

According to TechNewsWorld, the anti-spyware manufacturer`s president wrote in the company blog that it discovered the identity theft operation while doing research on a CoolWebSearch exploit.

The spyware downloads with CoolWebSearch, but is a separate program.

Mosaic Software, an S1 company and global provider of payment processing software, and Level Four Software, a provider of ATM and point-of-sale test and development software have entered into a co-marketing agreement.

Retail Decisions wins bank deal

Fifth Third Bancorp`s electronic payment processing division bought a five-year licence on fraud detection software from international company Retail Decisions, the fraud prevention company announced Monday.

Fifth Third Bank Processing Solutions will install Retail Decisions` Prism technology to detect and prevent ATM, credit and debit card fraud associated with its own issued cards, reports Dayton Business Journal. It has the option to extend the agreement an additional five years.

Anti-phishing solution launched

US-based CallingID has launched an automatic solution aimed at protecting banks and their customers from attempts to steal personal details used to access online bank accounts.

Safety Seal for Online Banking helps banks meet the recommendations of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) since their customers are protected from phishing, pharming and Trojans, reports Help Net Security.

Safety Seal complements CallingID`s basic solution, CallingID for the Internet, which protects all users accessing any Web site by providing them with immediate information about the owner of the site, its address and risk assessment that indicates whether it is safe to submit personal data to the site.
