A need for quicker outer case printing and coding without reducing print quality on high speed, high volume production lines has led to the introduction of the Domino C6000 Plus solution available in South Africa from the Industrial Solutions division of the JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group.
Ted Michel, Industrial Solutions director at Square One, the sole local distributor of Domino Printing Sciences coding and marking equipment, said the print capabilities of the C6000 Plus were re-engineered to run at even higher speeds without reducing print quality.
"The new high-speed print head was developed in response to a request from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that saw value in having higher print speeds to meet their top end applications.
"With the re-engineering the Domino C6000 and its variants are totally suitable for case erection and high volume and speed production lines and, depending on specific requirements, the C-Series Plus will benefit the pharmaceutical, health and personal care industries," said Michel.
The new 7.2kHz print head is capable of printing at up to 144m/min dpi dependant or at 54m/min at 200dpi. A new operating system eliminates code size restrictions and will cater for future additional features. A Windows Driver Version 2 offers automatic detect functionality, printer diagnostics, serial communications support and the ability to provide real time codes and sequential numbers in bar codes.
"This is now the fastest 70mm high resolution printer on the market for increased throughput and performance on high volume production lines. It also removes bottlenecks at secondary coding stations and meets the demand for either sheet or web substrates," added Michel.
Another feature is a large volume ink system that reduces operator intervention by requiring fewer ink changes. An intelligent system, it provides reliable ink delivery and the large reservoir also permits planned consumable changes while the production line remains operational.
Best fit for customer needs is easily achievable through the wide variety of print head options now available for the C6000 Plus, even for 70mm high resolution vertical down printing.
"Domino also offers lower power consumption for high resolution printing which helps manufacturers meet environment demands, "said Michel. "The C-Series presently uses just 25% of the power required to run more conventional printing equipment."
