Square One brings high-end Kodak scanners to SA market

Johannesburg, 25 Jan 2008

Scanning, filing and storage of documentation that includes photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphics and technical drawings can be executed quickly, securely and cost-effectively with the i600 and i800 series of scanners from Kodak, now available in South Africa through the JSE-listed Square One Solutions Group.

Focused on applied technology solutions for businesses and a boutique distributor of specialised international brand printers, scanners and copiers, Square One distributes the full Kodak range of scanners in South Africa.

"We are well-positioned to provide wide-ranging document management solutions to South African businesses across the board, including professional specialists such as architects and consulting engineers who need to scan and store complex drawings," says Philippa Dal Medico, channel manager at Square One.

"The Kodak technology allows documentation containing text, drawings, graphics and photographs to be scanned bi-tonally, or in colour, or in a combination of both, with a single high speed, high resolution scan pass, saving time and boosting efficiency. The image quality sets new standards too."

With the i800 series, a "QuickSet Elevator" feature offers 1000-sheet capacity, fast recycle time and an automatic reset mechanism that returns the paper elevator directly to the batch position. Dal Medico says it also features 3D multi-feed detection, with ultrasonic technology that detects adhesive labels and varying paper thicknesses, and therefore needs no operator calibration.

The scanners are ideal for high documentation organisations such as banks, insurance companies, brokers and other financial service providers, professionals such as architects, consulting engineers who need to store plans and drawings, medical aid companies processing thousands of claims daily, companies in general for legal and contractual documentation and product distributors for proof of delivery notes, among others.

Kodak also offers specialised cheque scanners for the banking industry that clear cheques electronically within hours rather than days, while also minimising errors, saving time, labour and costs. The scanner integrates to PCs via a standard USB connection.

The ranges of Kodak scanners have a "smart touch" feature that allows the correct scanning application to be selected and automatically scanned to file, e-mail, printers or other desktop applications supporting TIF, JPEG, RTF, PDF and searchable PDF outputs.
