As another means of adding value to its customers, the JSE-listed IT-based business enabling solutions provider Square One Solutions Group offers a range of innovative rental and financial services to customers requiring colour printers, specialised industrial printers, servers, networking equipment and other IT hardware.
"We strive to make the IT solution more affordable to customers," says Jackie Muscat, account manager of Square One Capital, the financial services company within the group.
"There are no deposits involved and we also offer ownership of the hardware at the end of the contract period which is typically 36 or 60 months depending on the type of equipment being financed."
With large, expensive colour printers, Square One Capital will not only finance the equipment purchase but also offer terms for the maintenance contracts that are sold with these printers. Another option that suits some customers is outright purchase of the printer with the maintenance contract on terms.
"A differentiation point for our service is flexibility," adds Muscat. "We don't set a minimum level for finance and therefore someone wanting a workstation at R3 000 will be able to finance it through us. We will also provide finance for software and hardware implementations at up to 25 or 30% of the capital value and we will deal with close corporations and sole proprietorships which most large finance houses turn away."
Square One Capital does not confine its services to its own stable of products and will also finance equipment ranging from automatic laundry machines to elevators.
Demand from SME companies during 2006 has been high, thanks to low interest rates applying until recently.
"A lot of small companies see financing as a means of easing their cash flow while at the same time obtaining a tax benefit," says Muscat. "Hence demand levels have been maintained and we've yet to see any tangible effect from the recent interest rate hikes."
