Square One evens the odds with top speakers at industry trends roadshow

Johannesburg, 16 Jul 2004

Square One Solutions Group, the JSE-listed provider of value-adding, IT-based business-enabling solutions centred on biometric authentication; integrated wireless and mobile applications; enterprise storage, power, LAN, WAN and infrastructure, is launching its business solutions division with an international five-speaker presentation at Grandwest Casino in Cape Town on 20 July, and at Montecasino Conference Centre in Johannesburg on 22 July.

The highly sought-after international speakers, Catherine Tilton, Vice-President Standards and Technology, at multi-biometric security software provider SAFLink of the US; Albert Benhamou, vice-president, EMEA region of wireless technology specialist Aruba Wireless of the UK; and Yuval Shilansky, the Israel-based EMEA director of sales for SANRAD, the multinational IP storage solutions company and member of the worldwide RAD group, will be in SA for one week only, presenting exclusively at this Square One Technology Showcase.

Catherine Tilton, Chair of the BioAPI Consortium, International Representative of INCITS M1 Technical Committee on Biometrics (serving as US Head of Delegation to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 subcommittee on biometrics), will focus on "Strong authentication for identity assurance management" in which she will discuss the use of biometrics and other authentication technologies for logical access control, the relationship between them when used together, and their role in information security, including single sign-on.

Benhamou's topic, "Enterprise Wireless: punching through the barriers" tackles bandwidth and security risks, as well as the ability of wireless technology to provide a unique and affordable total solution as an overlay, enabling large deployments, scalable user security, thin APs and RF management.

Shilansky tackles "Storage optimisation" and the capability of IP-based storage technology to deliver a new dimension in the continuity and simple management of vital business information. He will address the coupling of standard IP connectivity with network-based storage services to create IP-storage area networks (IP-SANs) that offer full data availability, effective resource provisioning and complete data protection with excellent price/performance.

Local speakers are Roy Blume, research manager at BMI-TechKnowledge SA, who will address industry trends and "the data centre of the future" as a result of IT organisations embracing disruptive change in data centre architecture, design and operations; and Manoj Bhoola, business group leader for server platform and tools at Microsoft SA, who will discuss centralised, secure management of an entire network, spanning a building, a city, or multiple locations worldwide under the topic "Value proposition: Active Directory".
