Ongoing developments in the convergence of voice and data are forcing companies to seriously examine their infrastructure and the issues surrounding policy, security and compliance. Square One Solutions Group, the JSE-listed IT-based business enabling solutions provider, will examine some of the major trends and market developments at its Next Generation IP Trends roadshows being held in Johannesburg and Cape Town during the last week of April.
"The local telecommunications landscape is going through a period of rapid change and de-regulation," says Square One chief operating officer Craig Alexander. "At the same time the networking and infrastructure market is in the midst of another disruptive, as opposed to sustaining, phase and we have seen new interception legislation around IP voice and data traffic introduced and applied to local Internet service providers.
"So, not only are we seeing the convergence of technologies such as data, voice, video and image but, just as importantly, the offerings of the entertainment and media, telcos and cellular industries are converging rapidly in both the business and consumer markets. Next-generation networking (NGN) is quickly developing in both the enterprise and service provider spaces and is shaping up as a pervasive technology that will radically change the way we conduct business."
To provide new perspectives on convergence and NGN, Square One has assembled four international speakers from among its major business partners to present views to a targeted audience at the Cape and Johannesburg roadshows. The speakers include:
* "Wholesale VOIP" -- Nicholas Turner, VP and GM EMEA, Nextone
* "Positioning the IP Transport layer for Next Generation IP Services" -- Trevor Dearing, Enterprise Solutions EMEA Juniper Networks
* "IP Interception Trends" - Artur Goncalves, Product Manager, Europe AQSACOM
* "Policy Services for Next Generation IP Networks -- Louis Janse van Noordwyk, MS Services Exchange Ranger, Microsoft
