St Bernard Software introduces iPrism M500

Johannesburg, 11 May 2006

SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and the southern African distributor for St Bernard Software, today announced the availability of the latter's iPrism M500, an affordable, entry-level Internet filtering appliance designed specifically for small businesses and institutions, where cost is a key consideration.

Developed in response to an increasing demand for affordable Web filtering solutions within smaller businesses and schools, the iPrism M500 delivers one of the lowest acquisition costs in the industry without sacrificing the features or functionality of a high-performance solution. Targeting 150 users or less, the iPrism M500 secures small businesses and educational institutions from Internet-based threats including spyware, instant messaging (IM), peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing and inappropriate content, before they reach the network.

As a completely self-contained appliance, with its own hardened operating system, iPrism protects against security breaches and does not require a separate server or additional software, thus ensuring costs are kept at a minimum. The solution can be installed and configured in minutes, and requires minimal IT maintenance.

Additional benefits of the iPrism M500 include the following:

* Decreases legal liability risk: ensures users are unable to access pornographic, racist or other objectionable sites, protecting companies and schools against possible legal issues.
* Increases employee / student productivity: surfing during work or school often translates to lost productivity. According to IDC, companies can lose up to $3 000 annually per employee due to non-businesses related Internet activity.
* Unparalled accuracy: the 100% human-reviewed iGuard URL classification system is more accurate than blended systems used by other filtering solutions. Millions of sites within iPrism's 63-category database are updated automatically every day, with security categories updated hourly.
* Cutting-edge performance: iPrism's proprietary kernel-level filtering technology delivers double the throughput rate without increasing latency.

"To help overcome the cost and resource issues faced by today's small business and educational IT administrators, St Bernard Software is aiming to put a high performance, yet affordable Web filtering tool into the reach of any organisation," commented Steve Yin, VP of sales and marketing at St Bernard Software. "The high price and complexity of software filtering solutions makes it difficult for companies and schools to protect their users from the growing dangers of Internet-based threats. The iPrism M500 is designed specifically for the needs of small businesses and educational institutions that face limited resources."

With the introduction of the iPrism M500, St Bernard now offers customers a range of Web filtering solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of any size organisation.
