Staffware expands into m-commerce

Staffware has extended its process workflow to mobile phones through the Nokia Application Protocol (WAP) server. The company used the announcement to push workflow software as a key enabler in e-business infrastructures.

"This move signals Staffware`s expansion into the m-commerce market, enabling real-time enterprise-wide WAP-based solutions," says Mark Ehmke, MD of Staffware South Africa.

To support its e-business push, the company recently launched its eProcess division, targeted at supply chain management, relationship management, straight-through processing, e-procurement, application service providers and m-commerce customers who will benefit from the WAP announcement.

Another target for the company will be e-commerce, which has long been accused of inefficient front- to back-end processes. Staffware sees its product as the middleware or backbone of any e-commerce initiative.

"Companies across the globe are spending millions on developing e-commerce projects and many of them have found that their initial objectives of reducing costs while increasing productivity have not been achieved," says Ehmke.

"This is often because process automation is either not in place, or does not run through the entire line of necessary actions required in order to fulfil an operational request."
