Staffware gains competitive advantage through workflow enhancement

Johannesburg, 05 Jun 2001

Implementing a workflow system requires parameters to be defined which can lead to a trial and error process before the systems are up and running.

Staffware has developed an enhanced software product, Staffware Process Monitor (SPM), to assist Staffware workflow-enabled companies to overlay their applications with a tool. This will highlight process-related and organisational weak points in a theoretical environment, after which the process can be modified and successfully deployed in the workflow environment.

The software gives organisations a high degree of visual control over business processes, facilitating the constant re-evaluation of the effectiveness of their workflow system. This is the first such solution on the market today, believes Mark Ehmke, managing director of Staffware SA.

"By implementing the Staffware Process Monitor alongside core business processes - and setting process performance indicators - users can gain valuable insight into the execution and efficiency of their existing business processes," he explains. "The resulting graphical display and real-time analysis form the basis of a continuous process improvement solution.

"Many companies are using Staffware to optimise the support of their predefined business processes with automated process control," he continues. "SPM provides not only insight into the data of a specific process, but also analyses data on all processes within a specified timeframe, evaluates them and presents the results.

"This brings to the market, for the first time, a goal-oriented solution that provides continuous optimisation and feedback of workflow processes."

Business benefits include:

  • Generation of process models from run-time data
  • Determination of key performance indicators for measuring process performance
  • Run times
  • Frequency of runs
  • Personnel placement
  • Visualisation of results in graphic format
  • Performance of various analyses
  • Target/actual comparisons
  • Benchmarks
  • Modification histories
  • Alarm functions following deviations
  • Improvement management

Product availability is on worldwide basis from 1 June 2001.
