The Staffware iProcess Engine (Staffware iPE), a core component of the new Staffware Process Suite, has undergone a rigorous independent performance assessment by Doculabs, Inc (www.doculabs.com), a research and consulting firm, which demonstrated its ability to handle unprecedented levels of mission-critical transaction volumes.
The tests, conducted at the Sun Microsystems Benchmark Centre in Manchester demonstrated an average throughput in excess of 1.5 million transactions per hour, on a single server supporting over 30 000 concurrent users. Staffware believes it has created the most powerful process engine capable of supporting the most sophisticated business process management scenarios for today`s demanding enterprise.
Bill Chambers, Principle Analyst, Doculabs, Inc, says: "The Staffware iProcess Engine has defined a new standard for Enterprise Process Management - combining support for production level processes, requiring human intervention offered by standard workflow vendors, with the data transaction throughput and application integration of EAI components."
"The Staffware iProcess Engine has proven to be scalable to a very large number of users, and supportive of high transaction volumes in complex processes that include users processing exceptions, straight through transactions and call outs to external systems," he adds.
The Staffware iProcess Engine was specifically developed to address market demands for an exceptionally fast, scalable and fault tolerant process management environment that supports enterprise-wide business transactions. With corporations increasingly viewing business process management as the central nervous system that controls their entire business operations, there was simply no room for compromise.
Staffware is particularly targeting the high transaction Business Process Outsourcing market where speed of throughput and high availability are critical to profitability and customer satisfaction.
Staffware has not only set a new standard for business process throughput, but has also spent over 100 man-years producing a fault-tolerant environment that is unbreakable, even when you attempt to deliberately sabotage the system, as was proved during the Doculabs tests.
Mark Ehmke, managing director of Staffware SA, says: "The Staffware iProcess Engine delivers phenomenal business process management efficiency, flexibility and scalability that international organisations demand. Staffware iPE also provides extensive integration capabilities as well as interfaces to market leading applications and technology. Customers can now rapidly leverage integration and process functionality to link legacy applications in real-time across the enterprise and beyond to their business partners over the Web. Quite simply, no other rival product comes close to what we have achieved with Staffware iPE.
"With Staffware iPE, the process management industry has taken a quantum leap forward and we are confident that businesses worldwide will be eager to take advantage of these new capabilities."
Paul Young, Product Operations Director of Staffware, stated: "The Staffware Process Suite represents more than 100 man years of development by Staffware in the UK and US, together with third-party best in class components. It is a multi-layered, 10 component suite, which our customers and partners can take on a component by component basis or as the complete offering."
Once processes have been modelled and data has been integrated from various sources, Staffware iPE manages the entire transaction from beginning to end - initiating parallel processes, retrieving key data from legacy systems, updating and backing up all steps and ensuring processes get completed quickly, reliably and consistently.
From highly complex order procurements with hundreds of suppliers, to thousands of securities transactions that need to reconcile with multiple databases around the world, Staffware iPE provides the automation, exception handling, deadline control and auditing necessary for these mission-critical applications.
The tests were done on 14 and 15 January 2002.
