Staffware, PPS win gold at 2003 GIGA Awards for Workflow Excellence

Johannesburg, 16 Apr 2003

Professional Provident Society Insurance Company Limited (PPS), together with Staffware, a leader in business process management (BPM) and workflow, were announced as the gold award-winners for innovation and excellence in workflow implementations in the Middle East and Africa regions, at the 2003 GIGA Global Excellence in Workflow awards ceremony in New York last week.

The award is based on recognising organisations that have excelled in implementing innovative workflow solutions ultimately meeting their strategic business objectives. It is co-hosted with the Association for Information and Image Management International (AIIM) conference and expo, and is sponsored by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC), Giga Information Group and the Workflow And Reengineering International Association (WARIA).

This is the third consecutive year that a Staffware customer has won the competition. In previous years, Telkom Properties won gold in 2001 with an invoice tracking system, while the Reserve Bank of Malawi treasury bill implementation won in 2002.

Says Mark Ehmke, managing director of Staffware SA: "It is indeed an honour for PPS to be selected and vindicates their decision to stick with workflow and process management technologies to achieve their business goals, after having been badly burned when previously using an alternative product. It proves that the technologies are sound and deliver significant business benefits when the correct products are implemented properly."

Metrofile, the leader in the southern Africa market for the management of electronic and paper documentation, in partnership with Staffware, provided an enterprise BPM solution at PPS Sick Pay Claims Department, which has improved efficiencies, retained existing clients and attracted new business for the organisation.

It took approximately a month-and-a-half to map the processes in Staffware`s Graphical Process Definer and to integrate them with the current scanning, line-of-business and imaging systems at PPS.

Staffware allowed PPS to automate interaction across departmental boundaries, while simultaneously retaining control and accountability - without having to change or even re-implement existing, proven applications. Monitoring the progress of a specific application or determining bottlenecks is now easier to identify.

Staffware is now widely and successfully used in a number of administrative applications. Following the successful Sick Pay department implementation, it will only be a matter of time before it will be implemented across all of PPS`s business processes.
