Staffware, leader in Business Process Management (BPM), has been awarded a contract to implement an enterprise workflow solution into Nedcor Ltd as part of a worldwide, multimillion-pound agreement, being Staffware`s third implementation at Nedcor since 1998.
Staffware`s solution will initially be deployed across five areas of business: Corporate and Commercial, Card Servicing, Alpha Reporting, Acturis (an international brokerage firm part owned by Nedcor Ltd) and the pilot phase of a paperless branch - a first for banking in SA. Eventually, Nedcor`s Alpha Banking platform, which provides a unified view of data from multiple disparate systems for all Nedcor staff countrywide, will rely on Staffware`s capabilities for process automation.
Says Mark Ehmke, managing director of Staffware in SA: "Historically, our solution has automated processes within the Home Loans division, Card Application Management Services and part of the Alpha Reporting Project. The licensing is now being extended into further areas of business in SA as well as internationally, where Service Provider Licences have been allocated to Acturis, who will offer outsourced process management to small insurance brokers in the UK. These brokers do not usually have the infrastructure to handle automated back office processing, which includes tasks such as administration, maintenance and issuing of policies."
The Alpha Reporting Project required system-to-system straight through processing with only the exceptions being handled by the staff. This automation eliminates laborious manual tasks and ultimately prevents fraud by limiting human involvement.
The Card Servicing division has employed Staffware to automate credit card maintenance, while implementing the solution as a driver for the pilot phase of a paperless branch will probably have the most far-reaching effect on banking. Here Nedcor is in the process of instituting a completely paperless branch by removing the need for paper from traditional paper-based processes and transactions. This includes the implementation of technologies such as the electronic capture of customer signatures and the storage of scanned supporting documentation.
Ehmke concludes: "Staffware`s vision and focus towards business process management and enterprise process automation provided the competitive-edge within Nedcor, as initially there were a few workflow vendors short-listed for the contract. Our commitment to research and development and developing close relationships with our clients are actualised within our Staffware Enterprise Partnership (StEP) programme, of which Nedcor is a member. This ensures that our products will continue to deliver functionality in line with our clients` requirements."
