Standalone office scanning from Rectron

Johannesburg, 22 Sep 2000

Rectron has announced the Microtek ImageDeck, the first standalone scanning appliance of its kind.

"The ImageDeck does not need a computer to use and will not tie up a workstation when an image or a document needs to be scanned. It`s designed for the busy office where there is no time to stand in line to scan." says Rui Pereira, product manager at Rectron.

According to Perreira, the ImageDeck has no complicated connectors, compatibility problems, or scanning to learn. "It merely plugs into any available outlet anywhere in the office for instant scanning functionality. Its easy push-button controls make scanning images or documents as simple as operating a copier."

Images are captured in full 36-bit colour input and up to 300 dpi for rich colour and sharp detail. It allows for scanned media to be saved in file formats readable by both PCs and Macintosh systems and the output media is a choice of PC formatted floppy disks and Iomega ZIP cartridges.

A printer can be plugged directly into the ImageDeck for computer-free colour copying. The device supports a wide range of compatible printers including the most popular models from Canon, Epson, HP, IBM, STAR, Tektronix and Toshiba.

Its bundled software includes Ulead PhotoImpact for Windows 95,98.NT, Caere Page Keeper for Windows 95/98/NT, and Caere OmniPage Limited edition for advanced Optical Character Recognition.
