Standard Bank`s Internet banking service is up and running after experiencing some technical problems over the past two days, the bank says.
The site was intermittently down since 9am on Monday but had been restored by 4pm yesterday, says Herman Singh, Standard Bank director of technology and engineering.
In anticipation of higher numbers and because of instability on the platform, the bank upgraded the system for the month-end, he says.
"But we upgraded the links coming into the system, the front-facing components, which in effect created a bottleneck. The user numbers also increased by 20% from the previous month-end; peaks which exceeded our expectations.
"On Monday and parts of Tuesday we were forced to investigate and identify the problem and have since installed more capacity."
