Standard Bank has embarked on another Internet banking upgrade, aimed this time at improving the user experience of the site.
Ross Linstrom, spokesman for Standard Bank, says the upgrade follows a security upgrade done on the site a year ago.
Among the new features are that customers can now have up to 300 beneficiaries linked to their profiles, with the ability to organise these into different groupings, such as family or general expenses.
In addition, new quick-links have been added for beneficiary management, as well as to beneficiaries that are paid at least three times per month, three months in a row.
All payments are to be incorporated into one screen and the user will be able to see a 12-month history of their inter-account transfers.
Standard Bank Internet banking costs R22 per month, with additional charges applicable for payment confirmations. Certain account-holders, such as students and Prestige Plus current account holders, receive free Internet banking services.
Standard Bank says its general Web site attracts 850 000 unique visitors every month, but it has not disclosed how many online banking customers it has.
According to Linstrom, the updated site is compatible with Internet Explorer, Netscape, Safari, Firefox, Jaws and Opera.
The update to the site last year led to the user interface being incompatible with browsers such as Firefox and Safari. The issue was subsequently addressed, but not before causing some inconvenience to online banking customers who do not use Internet Explorer as a browser.
