Sun Microsystems has announced the new StarOffice NOW program for educational institutions, magazines, OEMs, service providers, resellers, integrators, user groups, small businesses and end-users that wish to redistribute or use StarOffice in small volumes.
"The StarOffice NOW program allows us to partner closely with our customers by giving them the opportunity to add value to their products and ultimately their customers at little or no cost," says Marco Boerries, VP and GM, Webtop and Application Software, Sun Microsystems.
"Service providers, educational institutions and businesses can now participate in a number of CD distribution and co-marketing activities that take advantage of both the Sun Microsystems and StarOffice brands."
As a free product, distribution of StarOffice software via the StarOffice NOW program incurs no upfront costs to the distributor.
Sun offers StarOffice NOW members and their customers options for training and support.
Live online person-to-person support is also available through Expertcity.com. Sun says Expertcity.com's personalised, hands-on approach is the ideal complement to StarOffice software as users only pay for support, as needed, and the prices are established in a free market setting based on experts' bids.
