Soltura Communications wants to take market share away from established communication companies, such as Dimension Data and Business Connexion.
CEO Julian Morelis says the company aims to help clients cut costs, as traditional players are not helping businesses save enough on telecommunications. “Clients are not getting the financial benefits.”
The company, formed a year ago, targets the public and private sectors, and focuses on the mid-tier, corporate, government and enterprise sectors. Since its formation, it has signed contracts with Absa, Amplats, CSIR, MTN, Vodacom, Telkom, Tourvest, Buehler and Royal Bafokeng.
Morelis claims Soltura can offer the same - or better - services as Dimension Data and Business Connexion, at a fraction of the cost. “We're very confident about the success we have had so far,” he adds.
Value chain
The company offers managed services and connects its clients straight into networks such as MTN and Vodacom. It then manages the telecommunications costs.
“We focus on the entire networking and communications landscape, and leverage Cisco's next-generation advanced technologies to converge voice and data network infrastructure, unlocking economies of scale and delivering sustainable long-term savings for all private and public enterprises within Southern Africa,” Morelis says.
Soltura has rolled out to the six major business locales in the country and taken on additional technical resources to cater for the demand in the market, through its AT Services Cisco professional services arm.
AT has a certified skills pool across the routing, switching, security, unified communications, data centre, service provider, wireless networking and next-generation networks fields of competency.
Growing
The Midrand-based company has 30 staff members, but Morelis says this will grow as it garners new clients. It is also becoming a Cisco Silver partner and is taking part in its Solutions Incentive Programme, the only company in SA to participate.
Morelis explains this allows Soltura to be cost competitive, as Cisco gives companies in the programme extra discounts. “It allows us to be very competitive from a pricing point.
