Business Connection recently announced that its StarBase offering has grown to encompass the provision of end-to-end collaborative products for the development and management of code and content for e-business applications.
End-to-end collaborative products make it possible to manage an entire e-business application project, including aspects such as: requirement, code and content management, change control and version control, testing and content management and deployment.
StarBase has made six acquisitions in the last year, in addition to its technology partnerships with leading companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, Mercury Interactive, Vignette Corporation and Allaire.
StarBase`s employee count has grown from 200 just twelve months ago, to its current standing of 440. The number of StarBase distributors has grown from 30 to 65 during the same period. Revenues for the nine months ended December 31, 2000 were $25 026 000, a 121% increase over revenues for the comparable period in 1999. This growth rate is expected to continue in the future, according to the forecasts of industry analysts, including the Meta Group, the Hurwitz Group, Gartner Group and IDC Corp. Locally, StarBase is represented by Business Connection, which has also seen revenues from its StarBase Business Unit, headed by Sydney Ramutla and Justin Scott, grow by 63% in the last financial year. "Our aim was really to create market awareness and grow market share. This was aided by StarTeam`s unparalleled price to value ratio, specific to the South African market," says Sydney Ramutla, Lead Consultant for StarBase in Africa.
Mutual and Federal, Financial IQ, Intervate and Didata`s I-Commerce Services are some of the local software development companies using StarTeam for the management of their software development cycle.
"Our great achievement in the South African market was that we were able to use one great tool to solve the needs of customers who are targeting different markets, using different tools and processes, and with varying skills sets and geographic distribution." says Justin Scott, StarBase Technical Consultant.
"StarTeam has the flexibility to fit many processes and many environments without the need for massive customisation. The recent announcement of an end-to-end collaborative approach to Software Development Lifecycle Management will definitely enhance StarTeam`s market acceptance. It is the solution for any software development institution looking to control their software development life cycle."
