Ster-Kinekor Theatres and Prezence last Friday introduced the iOS version of the Ster-Kinekor app, which will be available in the Apple App Store.

The release follows availability of the Nokia and Android versions of the app, and is the fourth instalment of the suite of mobile apps designed and developed by Prezence Digital.

The iOS version is available as a free download and will be compatible with Apple mobile (iPhone and iPod touch) devices running iOS4 upwards. It will feature enhanced location and mapping features, full iPhone calendar integration with and reminders, in-booking reminder alerts, and the ability to send movie trailers to Apple TVs via Airplay.

The app also allows users to view trailers, filter cinemas by location, show movie start times, browse listings by genre, and purchase tickets using an interactive seating plan. Users will also be able to view movie synopses, cast lists and enriched movie news from Ster-Kinekor.

According to marketing executive Doug Place: “With our target market increasingly making their entertainment decisions based on online and mobile media, the launch of the iOS app is yet another step to fully and mobilising the Ster-Kinekor brand and customer experience.”

An iPad enhanced version will be made available shortly. This version will be optimised for the latest version's Retina display, and follows on from the recent release of the Android tablet app in the Samsung App Store.
