Storm, Braby's give customer relationship management a boost

Online business directory, Braby's improves customer's experience when searching for information online, using Storm SMS responder
Johannesburg, 14 Jun 2001

Braby's, the online business directory, available at

www.redindex.com

, has added another dimension to customer service by offering 'Beep for Business' a service based on the product Storm Responder, provided by Braby's business partner Storm.

The new service allows users searching for business information on www.redindex.com to send an SMS to the relevant contact on the Web site, thus improving their overall Web experience and enhancing customer care.

Braby's Beep for Business allows the customer to get in touch with the relevant contact, whether this be the advertiser or supplier, directly from their Braby's online directory listing, via the 'send us an SMS now' function, at no cost to the user. The underlying technology, Storm Responder, is an SMS solution that adds creative interaction between the site host and visitor, and the concept can be used on any Web site.

As an example, if a customer is looking under an Automotive listing on www.redindex.com, and looking for a particular car, they simply click on the 'send us an SMS now' function. Thereafter customers fill in their contact details and this SMS is sent to the relevant sales person.

Stan Webster, Internet manager at www.redindex.com, says: "Beep for Business is suitable for any Web site that wishes to prompt a response or initiate communications with visitors or customers to that Web site. Beep for Business makes the Internet, and Web sites in particular, more interactive and responsive to customer's needs."

Rob Fisher, special projects director at Storm, says: "What consumers have is an interactive experience where they will be contacted directly from their Internet listing via SMS. No matter where they are, they can be assured of a rapid telephonic response to their query.

"SMS is often overlooked as an effective method of communication. However, it is emerging as one of the most important mobile communication tools, that is not only more cost-effective in comparison to the conventional cellular call but just as efficient," says Fisher.

Storm was incorporated as a South African limited company in December 1998.

The business launched in Cape Town in June 1999. Storm is challenging the telecommunications status quo in SA.

The company provides businesses with a low-cost alternative to existing providers of voice and data communication, reducing the cost of their phone, fax and Internet access bills.

With its IP infrastructure and expertise, storm is ideally positioned to offer converged voice and data services on one network, once deregulation of the local telecommunications market takes place.

Storm provides a range of high quality voice and data products to a base of over 2 000 corporate clients. It lowers the cost of international calls for businesses using callback technology. Additionally, storm has services which lower the cost of national and international faxing, by carrying faxes over the Internet and the cost of calls to cellular phones, utilising cellular leased cost routing technology.

With the acquisition of ITI's business in 2000, Storm offers a full range of Internet access, Web and data hosting services.
