StorTech changing the face of SA's ICT sector

Johannesburg, 23 Nov 2015

StorTech as an enterprise is geared towards bringing more value to its end customers. It has been a level 2 B-BBEE company for some time now, but with the recent change in its shareholding, the company has become 53.7% black-owned, of which 32.9% are black women.

This puts StorTech well above the larger ICT companies when it comes to preferential procurement points. StorTech clients will now receive almost four times more value in terms of procurement points, based on the new DTI codes.

As a business, it's always been focused on serving its customers through innovation. Today, the company is reaping the fruits of its innovation efforts and taking its service delivery to the next level.

StorTech CEO Steven Hayward notes that the change is in line with StorTech's objective to deliver competitive advantage to its clients: "It's a marriage of great skills with the added benefits of our B-BBEE credentials."

Lenhle Khoza, StorTech's Chief Sales Officer, points out that one of the main benefits of the deal will be the positive ripple effect it creates within the broader economy of South Africa. With international and local shareholders, StorTech is able to apply both international and local best practices.

The more integrated focus will empower customers to gain agility across their entire organisation, sharpening their competitive advantage. The company is a tier 1 Cisco Gold Partner, through its holding company Vodacom, and currently one of the largest Cisco partners in South Africa. With 22 CCIE's and over 200 Cisco specialisations, it's been pivotal in ensuring seamless and secure network collaboration for all of its clients.

With over 12 years of experience in data storage and protection, representing leading global vendors such as EMC, HDS, IBM, Oracle, VCE and Veritas, StorTech boasts more than 350 data centre certifications and its business strategy is heavily focused on both innovation and transformation.

"We have strong competencies, engineering skills and certifications," says Hayward. "It's because of these skillsets that we've been able to expand at quite a rapid pace, achieving double digit growth rates over the last two years. Now thanks to the value being added by the new shareholders, StorTech will be able to grow even faster."

Not only is StorTech well positioned in the industry with a growing range of unique capabilities and offerings, it's also well recognised receiving numerous awards and accolades through its strategic partnerships with Cisco, EMC, IBM, Oracle, VCE and Veritas.

"It's always nice to be able to claim that StorTech is one of the most empowered companies in the ICT sector, but what we are proudest of is genuinely facilitating transformation and socio-economic development," concludes Hayward.
