Stratus Computer Technologies, a leading supplier of fault-tolerant server systems, has signed a partnership agreement with pan-African network and systems integrator, Intrinsic Technology with the aim of expanding Intrinsic's solutions offering as well as to impact into new markets.
Says Malcolm Anderson, channel manager for Stratus, "Intrinsic Technology was targeted as a partner in our channel recruitment drive for a number of reasons. The company maintains an extensive high level skills set and a large footprint throughout South Africa as well as sub-Saharan territories where IT is experiencing considerable growth such as Angola, Swaziland, Eritrea, Tanzania, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Mauritius."
"The company also focuses on four key enterprise areas in which our fault-tolerant technology is ideal for business critical applications including telecoms, banking and finance, public sector and manufacturing. The Stratus ftServer has achieved compatible product status for many mission critical applications in the above focused market segments. These areas are experiencing rapid growth in Africa and there is a need for servers capable of delivering 24x7x365 performance in the Windows environment. Stratus' ActiveService architecture detects and reports problems before they cause system downtime. ActiveService architecture combines automatic fault detection and isolation with integrated call-home remote support and online component replacement to ensure a level of built-in serviceability that other vendors cannot match. As the ftServer becomes the platform of choice for many of these mission critical applications, and when combined with ActiveService architecture, we can provide a compelling solution offering from Stratus and Intrinsic."
Intrinsic Technology is part of the global Gracefield Investments IT group. It operates in more than 14 African countries, engineering solutions for medium to large IT projects. Its areas of specialisation include enterprise computing such as ERP and CRM systems; networking, which covers end-to-end solutions for infrastructure, system management and satellite communications; storage and storage area networks; and services which include 24x7 support for hardware, software, network and storage systems.
Says Ray Codron, sales and marketing director for Intrinsic Technology, "We consider Stratus to be an excellent partner in the development of solutions for our customers who require fault-tolerant systems, particularly on the Windows platform. The ability of Stratus technology to deliver server systems which offer excellent price:performance levels and high reliability is important in the African IT environment. Deals done to date with Stratus have been quick, smoothly run and successful. The value of the partnership to Intrinsic Technology is that we will be able to extend our customer penetration now that we have access to Stratus technology. The relationship has already achieved good traction within the regions of South Africa and we look forward to partnering with Stratus in upcoming Microsoft events."
