Street View lands Google in court

Technology giant Google faces a pair of fresh lawsuits relating to its Street View application, representing the latest in a string of legal troubles the feature within Google Maps and Google Earth, notes Neontommy.

The Street View application allows users to see street-level, panoramic images of neighbourhoods throughout the world.

Spain's national protection agency sued Google, alleging the company illegally collected from Internet users through WiFi networks encountered by vehicles designed capture images for Street View.

Korean teen sues Apple

An iPhone user filed with the Seoul Central District Court a lawsuit against Apple, demanding that the US handset maker pay repair costs for her damaged phone, reveals the Korean Times.

The 13-year-old girl lodged the suit against Apple's Korean unit, calling for 300 000 won (about $270) in compensation. It marks the country's first civil action against the global handset manufacturer's after-sales service policy.

She bought an iPhone 3G last February that broke months later, and brought her smartphone to an authorised repair shop earlier this month, a court official said.

Justice system's future lies in tech

The future of the justice system lies in telephone and video conferencing rather than in outdated court buildings, UK justice minister said, according to Mail Online.

Jonathan Djanogly said the justice system has failed to keep up with the rest of society in its use of technology and the government should look into how to change this 'sooner rather than later'.

Giving evidence to MPs over the proposed closure of more 103 magistrates courts and 54 county courts - 40% of the 530 currently open - he said England and Wales had 'moved away from the Victorian idea that there would be a court in every town'.
