The new technology raises e-billing to the same level of trust as registered post, says Michael Wright, CEO of Striata SA.
The new "ePostmark" brings innovative technology to the electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP) industry, according to Garin Toren, COO of Striata North America.
By achieving regulatory compliance, the new digital postmarks will help drive adoption of e-billing in the US, says Toren.
The ePostmark combines the digital signature of the sender with a unique official digital signature and timestamp issued by the US postal service (USPS), certifying that an e-mail bill was sent at a specific time and date, was safely received by the intended recipient only, and was not tampered with in transit.
Striata SA will be able to use the technology to provide complete e-mail authentication through providing a validation certificate from a third party like PeerConnect, Wright says.
As the SA e-mail environment becomes more specialised, Wright says deliverability or ensuring e-mails reach intended recipients, is becoming increasingly important.
"We look forward to the benefits of the technology reaching SA to improve the standards of local e-mail delivery," says Wright.
