Stromasys, a leading provider of classic system virtualisation solutions, announced today that it has earned a place on Gartner's prestigious "Cool Vendors" list for 2013. The new report, entitled "Cool Vendors in the Server Market, 2013" and published on 1 May by Gartner [1], highlights the approaches of innovative vendors whose strategies for server market evolution differ from those of established server vendors.
According to the report: "Through the remainder of the decade, the pace of innovation and change in the server market will be more disruptive than ever. Whether they're looking to increase densities, lower costs, or converge servers, storage and networking, IT leaders will need to get a handle on this volatile vendor market."
Stromasys' approach to virtualisation differs from traditional server vendors because its solutions allow applications created for one CPU and operating system to run on different platforms, without modification. This method allow owners of classic systems to preserve their existing software investments and business practices, while also taking advantage of the benefits of modern hardware, including greater scalability, increased capacity and access to standard systems management. Stromasys' virtualisation solutions significantly reduce cost of ownership, maintenance fees, energy consumption, physical footprint and the business risks associated with ageing hardware and unscheduled downtime, without the cost and complexity of the traditional migration process. Stromasys has been providing virtualisation solutions and support for VAX and Alpha systems for more than 15 years, and has recently expanded its CHARON software product line to include solutions for SPARC and HP3000 systems.
"We are honoured and excited to be recognised as one of Gartner's 'Cool Vendors' since our company's pioneering start in 1998," said Ling W Chang, CEO of Stromasys. "We believe the designation further solidifies Stromasys as the world's leading classic system virtualisation provider."
